Doughnut Delights - Telling Time to the Half-Hour

Students will read o’clock and half-past times on an analogue clock. This game includes a variety of extensions that are simple to implement. It can also be used to introduce elapsed time.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to recognise and read the time represented on an analog clock to the hour, half-hour and quarter-hour.
  • We are learning to tell time to the hour and half-hour.
  • We are learning to use ‘am’ and ‘pm’ notation and solve simple time problems including duration and converting between units of time e.g. 60 mins = 1 hour.
  • We are learning to use ‘am’ and ‘pm’ notation and solve simple time problems, e.g. calculating time spent at school, time spent travelling between two locations, determining arrival time with given departure time.
  • We are learning to estimate and compare the duration of events using days, hours, minutes and seconds.
