Counting Change - Presentation
Use this presentation when exploring the concept of money and counting large quantities of mixed notes and coins, writing the total using dollars and cents, and recognising the cents as parts of the next dollar. The presentation explores comparing the way money and measures are read and said and how they are the same and different. This presentation has been created as part of our Money Mania unit plan.
Learning goals
- We are learning to count the change required for simple transactions to the nearest five cents and represent money in multiple ways.
- We are learning to recognise the relationships between dollars and cents and represent money values in different ways, e.g. calculating change in role-plays.
- We are learning to recognise and extend place value to tenths and hundredths use decimal notation to name and represent decimals.
- We are learning to solve problems involving purchases and calculate change to the nearest 5 cents, using both mental strategies and digital tools.
