Alligator Antonyms - Opposites Boardgame
'Alligator Antonyms' reinforces the meaning of finding antonyms, or opposites. Students can use this knowledge when investigating the language features that are used to create text cohesion, as authors build themes, ideas and information through connecting similar and contrasting dissimilar things.
Learning goals
- We are learning to understand how language features such as synonyms, antonyms and word associations make texts cohesive.
- We are learning to understand how language features such as personal and possessive pronouns can be used to leave out words in a text that can be inferred, e.g. Sam went to school. She had a lovely day. (‘at school’ is inferred).
