Learning goals
- We are learning to identify the ways we observe special events, e.g. birthday, Easter, Ramadan, NAIDOC Week, ANZAC Day and why these events are important.
- We are learning to identify how stories of families and the past can be shared, e.g. photographs, books, toys, medals, jewellery, artwork, stories, museums.
- We are learning to understand the ways in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples maintain special connections to particular Country/Place.
- We are learning to understand the days and weeks celebrated or commemorated in Australia (including Australia Day, Anzac Day and National Sorry Day) and the importance of symbols and emblems, e.g. flags.
- We are learning to identify the diversity of First Nations Peoples and the long and continuous connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to Country/Place (land, sea, waterways and skies).
- We are learning to understand the experiences of Australian democracy and citizenship, including the status and rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, migrants, women and children.
